Didatic is a clean looking template that adheres to web standards and was released by the designer under the Creative Commons License. Didatic is a three column layout with a header and footer in shades of gray. The first column used for the website content, the second column used for recent entries and the third column, labeled “sidenotes,” used to pull in information from other weblogs or trackbacks. The third column could easily be changed to pull in images from Expression Engine’s gallery, Flicker or another source. The header contains a links to some of the common Expression Engine functions—register, login, contact, search. The four-column footer is configured to display the categories, monthly archives for the past year, a third column for other links and a fourth column with some information about the theme. These areas can be re-configured to display different information based on individual needs.
From the designer’s website:
Didactic is a three-columned, gray-shaded template that’s accompanied with a “working” (read: somewhat) version of javascript that creates image captions on-the-fly.
The template really started off as an example for the javascript, which basically takes all images under the “captionate” class and provides captions (using the image titles/alt text). It also adds a subtle drop shadow to these images. Best of all, you loose nothing important if you have javascript turned off (or your browser doesn’t support javascript).
This theme was tested and appears to render correctly using IE7 and Firefox 2.0 on Windows XP. It was also tested on OS X and appears to render correctly using either Safari 2 or Firefox 2.

this is great! any chance you could put up a zip or something?
Just hit the “export templates” function in EE, it will generate a file for you and you can upload that .

Count me in on that, too. It’s a very nice layout.

Give it a try now. The download should work and the template files are taken right off the live preivew so they should work. You can post feedback/comments/questions regarding this template here.
Thanks, Kurt

The templates boasts XHTML Happy! - yet it doesn’t validate and breaks 8 rules.

Just ‘installed’ this theme. Looking great. Just can’t get the contact handler to work. Must have done something wrong.
also, can’t see all of my categories, but that is a problem I have with all templates/themes.
