Christmas comes a little early
The FedEx guy brought my Christmas… and birthday… present today, my new 15-year-old Yamaha Weddington Custom! There’s a bit of a story behind this purchase, so pull up a chair if you have a minute.
When I missed the Weddington that was on eBay a while back, I was pissed at myself for losing out on the auction due to my own stupidity. Weddingtons, being somewhat rare, aren’t exactly hanging around most used guitar stores and missed the only I had seen for sale. But I did find a post on the MusicPlayer forums about a guy who had one he was considering selling, but that was back in March, better than six months earlier. I figured it was long gone based on the responses to his post but, what the hell, it’s worth an email to ask if he still had the guitar and was still interested in selling. Turns out he still had the guitar and was still thinking about selling. Callooh! Callay! I chortled in my joy.
To make a long story short, we exchanged emails for a couple of weeks, working out the details of a sale. I made a fair offer on the guitar, which he accepted. I sent a check at the end of October and, voila, today there box waiting on my front steps when I returned home from walking around the block with my wife and kids. Life is good.
I’ll take a few pictures when I have some time but, until then, here’s one of the one I received before sending a check half-way across the country.
