Did you ever wonder…
Have you ever wondered about what goes into building a set-neck guitar, along the lines of a Les Paul? Or removing the neck on a set-neck guitar? If you’re like most people, these things have never darkened the cloudless days of your mind. For me, well, let’s just say that the urge to build a guitar has resurfaced and is growing strong—dark thunderclouds rolling in across the barren plains. Like most first-time builders, I’m looking around at Tele-style partscasters I can build with components from places like Warmoth, USA Custom Guitars and similar companies that carve necks and bodies on industrial CNC machines. They’re high quality, relatively inexpensive and generally considered a good place to start. But I’m also toying with the idea of buying a beatdown set-neck guitar to rip apart and rebuild. Just for kicks.
Oh, and to answer the questions at hand, here’s how you build a set-neck guitar from scratch: http://www.setchellguitars.co.uk/ant/blog/
