Sometimes you just get lucky
There’s just no other way to describe it: Sometimes you just get lucky.
Thursday evening, someone emailed me asking about Yamaha Pacifica 1412s, in “8 out of 10 condition,” asking if I would be interested. Would I be interested? Why, yes, I think I would be!
We emailed back and forth and it turned out that he was only about 20 miles from where I lived, so I drove over this morning to take a look at the guitar. Sure enough, it was an original Pac 1412. Unfortunately, the condition was rough—the guitar had been played hard and put away wet. Literally, it seemed, because some of the screws and brightwork were rusting. Worse yet, the strap button had ripped out of the upper horn and was now held in by a 2” drywall screw. Ouch.
I was disappointed, but the guitar was salvageable so I made him an offer I thought was fair (or even a bit higher than fair). He accepted so I am now the proud owner of a Pacifica 1412!
Here are a few shot, taken before I spent much time cleaning the guitar up.
I’ll start to clean the guitar up this weekend so stay tuned!
